Ford Pro™ Upfitter
Program Overview
The Ford Pro Upfitter (FPU) program is the new upfitter qualification program. This program forms a foundation from which Ford can work more closely with final stage vehicle manufacturers. The goal of this relationship is to provide a more seamless end-to-end experience for our mutual customers.
Vocations
Ford Pro Upfitters are aftermarket upfitters with whom Ford has a contractual agreement. One of the biggest changes from the previous QVM program is that the new FPU program is not limited to the people-moving vocations but now encompasses most upfit vocations including:
  • Ambulance
  • Shuttle Bus
  • Motorhome
  • Mobility
  • School Bus
  • Police
  • Body & Equipment
  • Delivery & Distribution
Assessments and Requirements

In order to help ensure upfit vehicle quality, the FPU program will require manufacturing site visits allowing for qualification of certain business and customer service practices. The qualification consideration will be based around the following criteria:
Type Description
Compliance Upfitter is in accordance with all Ford and government rules and regulations
Quality Upfitter has a quality operating system in place at all of their facilities
Manufacturing Upfitter maintains well run, secure, and clean manufacturing facilities
Customer Service Upfitter has a demonstrated commitment to customer service
Trade Associations Upfitter is a member of either NTEA or the RVIA
Business requirements Upfitter will meet minimum volume requirements described in program
The Ford Pro Upfitter program does not certify or approve aftermarket modifications. Incomplete Vehicles are supplied to the upfitter and the upfitter is the Final Stage Manufacturer of record. The upfitter assumes liability for their modifications made to the OEM vehicle.
Become a Ford Pro Upfitter

The online application for the Ford Pro Upfitter program will go live in April. Please sign up below to be notified when the application goes live.

We understand the need for OEM upfitter qualifications for compliance with certain bid specifications. For upfitters with an existing QVM certificate - that certificate will remain in effect until Ford is able to evaluate a new Ford Pro Upfitter application.

Once the application goes live in April, it will remain open for approximately two months. Once received, the Ford team will review your application and contact you to schedule a site visit. Site visits are scheduled to start in the second half of the year. Timing and Program details are subject to change at the discretion of Ford Pro.
